The road to retirement travels through a tangled web of career and financial decisions. Career and financial decisions I make now, at the beginning of my career, will have a profound effect on the direction for the rest of my life. The bearings that guide my decisions come through knowledge, advice, opportunities I seek. My goal is to make choices that fit into the framework of my current needs but also push me towards where I want to be in my life. It’s easy to say, but very difficult to perform.
I intend to use this site for two reasons:
- Personal Accountability – “What gets measured gets done!” (Peter Drucker) The idea is that creating a blog will motivate me to create and write down my plan and reasons. Kind of like a Rand/McNally map for my mind marking the sites I’ve seen and directing me towards the places I want to see.
- Collaboration – I hope that my experiences chronicled here will motivate others to do their own planning and to comment on mine. Two brains are always better than one.
